Pekingese

Pekingese are very popular small breed dogs, especially those living in small apartments. They have short noses and small ears that flop down; this makes them very cute and very popular.   • Eye issues: Since they do not have a long nose to help protect their large eyes, their eyes can easily get scratched. They are also prone to developing Cherry Eyes. Cherry eye is a protrusion of the 3rd eyelid gland. This may require your dog to have surgery to fix these issues. Your vet can easily tack this gland back into place.  

Many of these issues will require you to visit your vet to help them quickly recover. Eye and breathing issues commonly reoccur and, many need lifelong medication to help manage.
