What Pet is Right for You

Is one of your resolutions to adopt a new pet? Figure out what is the perfect pet for you!

Adopting a pet can be a challenging decision, especially for animal lovers. If you know that you would like to adopt a new pet, but are unsure as to what animal fits your lifestyle and personality, we have the answer! Here are some useful tips to help you determine what pet is right for you.

  • Pooches: Dogs require a lot of attention and commitment. All dogs need exercise, of course, but some need more than others. It depends on the breed, plus their personality and age. Other things to bear in mind when considering a dog are that most need lots of training, are very active and are very social. If you are a very busy person and are rarely at home, a dog is not the pet for you.
  • Felines: Cats do require attention, but less so than dogs. If left with food, water and a litter box, a cat can survive on its own for the better part of the day. But some are more content with time alone than others. Cats are a great low maintenance pet that you can still play and snuggle with.
  • Reptiles: A snake or lizard can be a fun pet to have, if you are looking for something on the exotic side. However, they do have very special needs in regards to temperature and humidity levels.
  • Rabbits: Rabbits come in all shapes and sizes, and can be very energetic! Rabbits will have fun running around the floor, or they can snuggle up with you while you watch a movie. They do require large crates or cages that need to be fully cleaned about once a week.

If these types of animals don’t seem to be a match, there is no need to worry. There are other animals to consider for pets: guinea pigs, frogs, rats, birds, fish and more. Good places to get more information on what pet you would like to adopt is also your local veterinarian or pet store.
