A Cry for Help from our Furry Friends!

Animal shelters do a great service for the community by helping pets find new homes. You can help these pets find loving owners, or reconnect with their family, by helping your local animal shelter. Many shelters allow you to sponsor a specific animal or project, so let them know what you’re interested in. You can also provide them with both necessities and comforts until they find their new home. That makes for a great family project, too. Your local shelter might have a website with wish-list items or you can call them to ask what they need. Some common items that are always needed include:

  • Kitten and cat food (canned and dry)
  • Puppy food (dry)
  • Scoopable cat litter
  • Litter tins
  • Paper towels
  • Old cloth towels
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Laundry soap
  • Latex and rubber gloves
  • Office supplies
  • Six-foot leashes
  • Collars of all sizes

They also welcome money to buy these items.

Do you either currently volunteer or have in the past, at your local animal shelter? What are more ways you would suggest we can be of help to our “unfortunate furry friends” in shelters? Please share your ideas with us in the comments below.
