Do you want a hassle-free pet? Do you live in an apartment or dormitory that doesn’t allow pets? Keep reading to find your perfect pet!
As a college student myself, I know that it is hard to go from living in a household with pets, to a dormitory with none. However, there is one type of pet that is allowed on campus…a fish! The most common types of pet fish are:
- Betta Fish: This is probably one of the most popular types of aquarium fish. These animals are small and colorful. They vary in length from 1 to 5 inches.
- Goldfish: I’m not talking about the tasty crackers! The goldfish is a type of carp, which is also very popular as a pet. Goldfish are, as its name suggests, very colorful creatures that are a mixture of gold and red. However, these fish do produce more waste than others, so a good water filtration system may be necessary .
- Angelfish: This is a more social breed of fish. Owners of angelfish have noticed that they tend to notice your presence more so than other pet fish. The coloring of angelfish is also very pretty, with color combinations of silver, gold, black, brown and a light blue.
- Mollies: These fish are very unique creatures because they can survive in almost any type of water, including fresh, brackish and marine water. They come in multiple color and spot decorations, and are known to be ideal pets.
Before you decide to adopt a fish simply because it is pretty, it is always wise to speak with a specialist on the fish’s specific needs and diet. A fish may be less maintenance than a dog or cat, but it still has needs and should be looked after properly.
